Figure Drawing Session
We will have a live model in the studio for figure drawing from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on the second and fourth Thursday of the month (excluding holidays). The model will start with short poses for warm-up, progressing to longer poses for more detailed studies.
Easels will be provided.
ArtBlitz Studios offers in person art classes with resident and guest instructors, group painting programs and workshops to help you build your skills and explore new media and techniques. We embrace a learning environment that is collaborative, encouraging, and fun. We believe in supporting the learner on their path to discovering their artistic voice. In general we run classes with between 5 and 10 students, and reserve the right to cancel a class that does not have at least five students registered.
Create a House Portrait
Starting with a photo of your house or the house of a loved one you will collage papers onto a blown up photocopy of the house image. In this class you will learn techniques for making quick collage papers, techniques for splicing house images together, and collaging the papers onto the image. You will leave the class with a framed house portrait.
Currently this class is not in our schedule, however we are always happy to schedule a House Portrait class if you are able to gather a group of at least five students.
Gel Printing Basics
Gel Plates are a unique tool for making monoprints without a printing press. In this class we teach you the basics of how to use the gel plate. You should leave the class with a small collection of prints and the knowledge to continue printing with the gel plate in the future.
Currently this class is not in our schedule, however we are always happy to schedule a Gel printing class if you are interested.
Gel Printed Greeting Cards
Handmade Greeting cards are a nice touch and easy to make with the gel printing plate. In this class we will teach you two different ways to make beautiful handmade greeting cards. You will receive a packet of ten blank greeting cards and envelopes to work with. All materials needed for making the cards will be provided to you.

Build an Artist’s Journal
In this three day workshop you will build an art journal with blank pages, embellished pages, and a cloth cover. You will also build a small artist’s book. You will learn techniques for binding pages together, with or without thread ….
Class will meet on Thursday evening for two hours to prep papers from 7 to 9 PM, Saturday from 11 to 6 PM and Sunday from noon to 4PM
All materials will be provided.
Minimum class size, 5 students.
Kim is an oil painter who delights in painting both outdoors and in the studio. Inspired by color relationships, she strives to depict the emotion or experience of the day rather than rendering her subjects exactly as she sees them.
Two of her favorite subjects to paint are flowers and landscapes, and she loves to challenge herself by painting whatever subject is before her, whether a portrait, cityscape or seascape.
Our modern lives have become so busy, we hardly have an opportunity to look around and experience the beauty of everyday life. When do we stop and look closely at a flower or the landscape around us? Painting is Kim’s way of taking the time to live in the moment and pay close attention to the beauty that surrounds us.

Beginner Painting in Oil and Acrylic: Focus on the Landscape
Learn to paint in oils or acrylics this fall at ArtBlitz Studios in Sterling.
Demonstrations will be in oil and will focus on the theme of landscapes for this session. However, concepts discussed will be applicable to any subject you choose to paint. I firmly believe that you will create a better painting if you paint something you love, so if you prefer to paint a different subject, you are welcome to do so. Topics taught will be applicable to any subject matter.
Classes are limited to 10 students and are taught through demonstration and one on one instruction. Small class sizes mean lots of direct assistance with your painting. (minimum 4 students)
In this workshop you will learn:
paint handling and basic color mixing
tips for composing and designing your image
how to create vibrant shadow areas
tips on how to choose a subject
methods for working solvent free with oils.
